Fire!

Fortunately only a little one... I was out pottering in the garage when suddenly the lights went out. When I went into the house to check the fuses, there was a strong smell of burning, and smoke coming from the utility room. It seems our eleven year old washer dryer had decided to give up the ghost by suffering a small electrical fire. I dialled 999 just to be on the safe side while I investigated, but having pulled the machine out I could see it was burning out on its own, so I was able to cancel the call before the fire brigade were sent out. This is the charred remains of some of the electrics inside...

New washer-dryer duly ordered. Fortunately there was no other damage.
