An Ullapool Shower

We arrived in Ullapool on the Scottish Mainland this afternoon after 2 weeks of exploring the Outer Hebrides. The town of Ullapool was in carnival mode as several tall ships were in port and the town had laid on music, dances, food stalls and craft fair along with attractions. The atmosphere was buzzing with international sailors and foreign tourists mingling with locals. A plethora of boats and ships were in the harbour.

The Coastguard emergency towing vessel 'Anglian Sovereign' which patrols the waters of the Minch and West Coast of Scotland, put on a display of it's fire fighting prowess which I managed to captured. It along with the three other emergency towing vessels which from patrol the Dover Straits, South Western Approaches and Northern Isles are set to be axed to save money. Their essential role came into the spotlight last year when nuclear submarine HMS Astute went aground off Skye and was towed to safety by a coastguard tug.
