Stromness Arrival

The 'Tall Ships' race arrived in Kirkwall last night. I should have gone and taken some photos in the sunny evening because it was 'orrible this morning. I felt sorry for the people who were paying to go on a wee voyage, it'd have been much nicer in the kind of pleasant weather we've had all week.

I took a few pictures and then went home for coffee, and then to Stromness for the ships arriving there. Here's some....

This is the Statsraad Lehmkuhl. This ship is often in Kirkwall but it was the first, by a long way, to make it to Stromness, so that's why it gets the shot. It's a pity they can't raise sail in the islands...they use engines and a sailship not under sail looks stationary.
