old sketch books
looking through old sketch books came across this done when my mum was in hospital, the day before she died as it turns out.
i remember finding it incredibly hard to draw her, even tho she had demanded i get my sketchbook out, as you can see. but such a vague scribble and splodge holds such a lot of emotion for me.
It was a week before hand-in of dissertation - she said she wasnt going to die till after i graduated, i said i was going to graduate well before she died. we egged each other on. we were both mistaken.
Although many years since she died, i still miss her.
it happens, eh.
I love Maggie Hambling and her work she is so courageous, and she was able to paint the people she loved when dying, when dead. Brave.
i seem to be back blipping a lot.
will try harder!
