Looking for the beauty

Soft petals

I took this photo this evening just as the light was beginning to fail. It is a poppy taken from the bottom of the flower with the camera pointing towards the sky. I've chosen it as I like the way the delicate petals have been captured. It was also the only photo that was any good!

Today (or should that be yesterday as this is another backblip!) I did a bit of work from home before venturing into town to do some shopping. Town was very busy as some children have already broken up. I bought some presents for the teachers and TAs at my sons' school - just a little something to say 'thank you' and some things for the hamsters. I wasn't really in the mood for shopping but I needed to get out of the house as I was moping! It was move up morning at my old school and I was feeling a little tearful about not having my own new class for the new term.

Later on I went to a retirement 'do' for the school administrator who has worked at the school since it opened 25 years ago. She's a lovely lady who will really be missed. There was a great turnout for her and lots of lovely cakes to eat which all the staff had prepared.

Today was an important day for my younger sons. They received their reports - both good :-) and my eldest, who leaves primary next week, also received his leaving hoody and his class photo. I think it's great the way they make a big fuss of the kids when they leave. Next week they get to go into dinner first every day, receive a memory book to get autographs and comments from friends, teachers and other kids in the school, have a leavers' assembly and perform a talent show for the rest of the school. I know that I will definitely have a tear in my eye at the leavers' assembly.
