The Blind Watchmaker.
Quite by chance I discovered this remarkable inch-long dandelion-like parachute seed hanging off a geranium flower in our living room.
Although clearly not a geranium seed, this delicate visitor must have wafted in through our open windows and gotten itself snared on the geranium's petals, which is tall enough to do that.
A bit of research has lead me to conclude that this miracle of evolution is the seen from a Common Stork's Bill - Erodium cicutarium for the taxonomists out there - itself a member of the Geraniaceae family of flowering plants which includes our friendly geranium.
