Dining Out
This evening I have had a nice Curry, with nice company TinksandTonks, it was just what the Doctor ordered, it wasnt too much and wasnt too little, it was a local establishment, that has a wealth of history, and I`m sure the walls could tell you a story :
This Wetherspoon pub stands on the site of a malthouse, which was one of the outbuildings of the nearby Dale House Restaurant.
This pub is situated in New Road, which was constructed around 1818 as a turnpike. More than half a century earlier, Dale House was built for the Hincks family, whose malthouse was situated next door. The malthouse was later converted to The Coliseum - the first cinema on the site, which opened in 1914, on the eve of the First World War, the doors closed 30th December 1967, and re-opened as a Bingo Hall (what a surprise) 16th February 1968 finally closing it was converted in the late 1990`s to a Pub, and aptly is now called JD Wetherspoons "The Malthouse"
From 1915 - 1959 the little town of Willenhall had not 1 Cinema but 2 Cinema`s, its hard to believe really.
Having to back blip again Thanks Cable, Sky havent managed to sort out Internet connection yet, so still using good old Virgin Media, been down for 2 nights, so I`m typing like mad, just incase it decides to die on me again.
