Windyridge

This lone tree on a ridge above Hawksworth is one of the striking skyline landmarks that can be viewed from Baildon Moor. I think of it as the local equivalent to Hadrian Wall's Sycamore Gap. I've only once walked the few miles over to it, but was a rewarded by a nice view back through the mist toward Baildon Moor.

The author Willie Riley lived in Hawksworth, so perhaps this scene was the inspiration for his most famous work, Windyridge? This was the book that thousands of houses, including my Grandma's, were named after.
