Palais Ideal

As I promised yesterday we visited the Palais Ideal today. I can only show one picture now, but 'hundreds' we made. When I'm home again I'll post the best results in my Blipfolio.

For today I chose a detail of the East Wing. And for some quotes from the amount of what's written about this art of the insane to 'Raw Art' or in other words, from untutored thought to visionary fervour.

"The 'Facteur Cheval' created a palace with unknown shapes, working far from artistic circles. Everything that men had dreamt about or nature created, became a scourge of inspiration. The 'Palais Ideal' bring these dreams together in a beautiful Babel Tower"

"[...] A few years later (after 1879, the year where the epic begun, where work started on the dream, Tiebreaker) the creator became a sculptor; and the sculptor gradually turned into an architect.
That's why the palace, which was a sculpture in the first place, happened to be a full architectural construction in the end."
