Missing pots
This shot was taken from Chimney Pot Park in Salford.
When I was a child this park was indeed amongst the chimney pots of 349 terraced houses built for local mill workers.
By 2002 the area was mostly empty, vandalised and later refurbished into upside houses. These houses are designed with the bedrooms downstairs and the living accommodation on the upper floors.
The fixtures on the roofs today are for cooker hood ventilation.
Cooker Hood Ventilation Park doesn't quite have the same romantic ring it somehow.
The original houses were used in the opening scenes of A Taste of Honey (1961) and the opening credits for Coronation Street.
