Clematis tangutica

Yellow-flowered Clematis tangutica is a lovely thing and can be left to its own devices - not cut down at all - if it is grown specifically to ramble up big trees or over large pergolas. It will cover everything in its path and leave a trail of its delicate yellow lanterns as it goes.

Then, after the lanterns come these wonderful punk seed heads which are just as nice to have as the flowers. In fact as you can see on this one - you can have lanterns and punk hair-dos right next to each other.

A real fun plant - easy to grow - and if you don't want it to run amok, cut it right back down to base and it will start all over again ....................
