Love in a Mist
Since it's been so hot, I did my garden watering before breakfast. I noticed that some of the Nigella (commonly known as 'Love in a Mist') were blooming, so I decided to take a couple of pictures. I sowed seed for these back in late April and, since I didn't do much to amend the clay soil that they are growing in, they are a bit stunted. From a distance they don't put on much of a show, but up close they are a beautiful flower. I love the lacy foliage that surrounds the bloom. Later they will form balloon like seed pods.
