River Carron

First of all, a great big "thank you" to you all for your congrats and comments yesterday. I am delighted to have made "Spotlight" yesterday as well. There is no chance of equalling yesterday's bi-centennial blip but here goes.
Out for a walk with Euan this afternoon (What, Again? I hear you ask.) It was a lovely afternoon and Mag and I walked for miles - so my feet tell me - and when we crossed the River Carron I thought this view looked pretty good. Nor the world's greatest or most spectacular rivers, the Carron has given its name to an item which proved decisive in the long struggle with Napoleonic France, the Carronade. This short range, heavy calibre smasher assisted Nelson and others in winning the seas for Britain. This is becoming a sort of "I mentioned the war but I think I got away with it" piece so I should apologise to all French blippers at this point. As if by way of restitution, the Carron works now make kitchen sinks. Oh well, Sic Transit Gloria Mundi!
I must also add a congratulatory note to Duncan Brown for his most worthy "Spotlight" yesterday. Duncan's daughter ("Rodents Rule") is also called Carron.
