Purple Thistle Thingy!!

Just back from my parents garden after a day of landscaping when I decided to relax in my own backyard with a cup of tea - noticed that this "Purple thistle thingy" (not sure of its actuall botanic name) was looking Blooming marvelous so I thought I would share it with you guys - enjoy your evening...I'm off to work.....
