Don't forget to smell the flowers.

A good friend of ours died 15 years ago today.
He had achieved so much in his too short life - the effects of his work in Africa and beyond live on.
One day towards the end he was sitting in his garden listening to the birds. He said "you know, I never took time to listen to the birds or smell the flowers." I think of this comment often, it puts work in perspective. He was truly an inspirational human being. We miss him.
