When things go out of kilter (as they have this whole past week), I fall back on flowers (two days ago) or patterns. There's something reassuring about their predictability, don't you think?

Interesting fact I heard today: Washington D.C. is now officially the sixth hottest city in the United States (and no, nothing to do with all the hot air politicians are blowing here...). Sure feels like it: 96 today, over 100 tomorrow. The humidity is so thick that my glasses fogged up when I walked outside. Yuck.
