I, like so 1000's of others, have been waiting SIX years for this book to be released. If you don't know, it's book 5 of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' a fantasy series so popular that the first book 'A Game of Thrones' has been recently adapted by HBO for television.

It wouldn't be unreasonable to say that if you have even a passing interest in Fantasy literature then you need to read this series of books. However you might want to hang fire until GRRM has finished the story; there are at least 2 more books to come. After a pretty swift start he has slowed the publication down to glacial speeds - much to the consternation (and in some cases very vocal anger) by his fans. It was at the end of book 4 'A Feast For Crows' in 2005 that he said the next volume was all but finished and definitely would be released the following year. 'A Dance With Dragons' is that next volume and is formally released tomorrow (but I managed to get it today due to Play.com's notorious pre-emptive dispatch service ;) )

Rest assured that it is going straight to the top of my ridiculously large pile of books...
