Teacher rally

We detoured through the town of Pentwater, MI and ran into this rally of teachers picketing a politician's fundraising lunch. Michigan is similar to Wisconsin in having a Republican governor bent on destroying collective bargaining. In addition, there's an Emergency Manager law allowing the governor to appoint an overseer to a town with financial problems. This manager replaces elected officials and can suspend collective bargaining and slash salaries and sell off public and school property. Recall petitions were circulating.
