Final Shuttle Launch Atlantis

This weekend we were lucky enough to be in Florida on the same day the final shuttle Atlantis launched.

As you can see the beach was lined with people waiting to see it.

You could see the launch much better on the televison, but I have to say to be on the beach and surrounded by the crowd and the excitement in the air, was something that you just can't get sitting in front of the television. And there were people around us counting down, when the launch finally happened everyone started yelling and clapping. And to hear the shuttle, that surprised me because even after you couldn't see it anymore, you could still hear it, it was a rolling thunder sound. To imagine a machine that powerful launching into space is really amazing.

Unfortunately I missed the photo opportunity of the clouds after the shuttle was up for a while, the clouds actually made a swirling shape, and sort of looked blurry. But by the time I noticed it the camera was up and they went back to normal pretty quickly.

It was a great experience.
