Baby bird oh baby bird
I hope I did the right thing with him/her/it.
We found it on the ground just sitting there. Seems to have fallen out of the tree close by, as there is another one a few feet away dead on the sidewalk. So, my dad saw it, and we got a shoebox. I went and dug up a few worms, and quickly scampered to the trusty internet to see what I could and should do. Turns out it doesn't matter too much if I touch it contrary to what my parents have had me believe. Maybe that's only with rabbits. So I fed it a few worms and a couple drops of water, my mom gave it some rice.
The internet says to let it go because fledglings are supposed to be wandering around and getting a sense of the world and the parents should be able to find the little birdie by its chirps, so I opened up the side of the box, and it hopped away, still holding this worm in its mouth because it still doesn't understand what to do... It was chirping as it ran for cover under a bush, so hopefully it'll survive, and those parent birds will find their baby.
Update: I think the parents are still around, as a bird swooped by when it started chirping loudly.
Can anyone identify what kind of bird this is?
