The Vortex

Today while sorting out the pool chemicals I noticed a vortex forming near one of the jets that pumps the water back into the pool after its been through the filter.

That vortex soon fizzles away but another soon came along so I went and got my camera. It was fascinating (honestly!) watching them form, merge, evaporate away or encounter bits of debris on the surface.

The best was of watching was actually watching their shadows on the bottom of the pool, but those didnt really come out in photograph well... too low contrast and you cant see the movement so you lose most of the affect.

As there was no way the autofocus system could know what the hell i was actually trying to focus on it was a good chance to play with manual focus...
