Synchronised Hailstones

Went and dropped A at her nursery for her Pre-schooler outing to East Links Family Farm in Dunbar. She was well excited and even put her travel bands on in the hope that she wouldn't be sick. Unfortunately it didn't work...but only didn't work once so I suppose that could be seen as an improvement.

I then went back to find Grandma ready for our picnic at the galleries, she wanted to see the August Sander exhibition again and I wanted to take S and L to the Gallery of Modern Art. Well, when we thought about food the heavens had opened and the girls hastily ate their sandwiches under cover at the Dean Gallery. We then went over to the Modern Art Gallery in the hope to find a sheltered picnic spot there. No luck so we had tea and shortbread instead and stealthily ate a few of our own sandwiches as well. After a quick look around we then thought a walk along the water of leith would not go amiss. The thunder and lightening got closer and further (we counted between 5 to 10 between lightning and thunder) but no rain seemed to come. Until we wanted to cross over. The heavens opened and we had to stay under cover until it abated a bit. We walked on in the hope that it would stop. no such luck, it just went on and on and on so we decided to get bus back and just walk through it anyway. Drenched to the bone we got home only to find that our balcony had become a swimming pool which had slowly seeped into the living room. Furniture got moved, water shovelled over the ridge of the balcony...the neighbours had water coming into their flat because of all that. The balcony filled with water because the drains couldn't cope and the water basically came up through the downpipe.

Our neighbours lent me a water hoover and I got quite a bit of the moisture out of the carpet. Totally tired I went to bed in the hope that tomorrow would be dry.
