Triple Busy
The bees were all over the purple loosestrife today.
This is a perennial flower that is not native to our area, but was imported from Europe by in the 1800s. It loves moisture, is very hardy, and by now it has invaded the wetlands all over the US and Canada, choking out the native species that normally grow there.
We have a stubborn patch of it in the wet wrinkle halfway across our back pasture. Every summer Bruce digs it up, and every spring it grows back again!
It is beautiful, but very difficult to control.
