Indulgent Day
A day of sheer indulgence. Mac, a good mate and excellent photographer who lives around the corner, collected me and we went into the big smoke -Perth. He wanted to buy a new D Lux 5 so we decided to make a day of it. Drove to a train station, dumped the car and hopped aboard to the city centre. Bought the camera and by then were both desperate for a caffeine fix. We had that and a couple of big fat croissants. That was breakfast and it was close to midday - which is close to lunch, so we slipped into Northbridge, a sort of Chinatown, and decided to have a cheap lunch of lovely, greasy, crispy duck off the bone with rice, eleven bucks, and a pot of green tea -a dollar. We used chopsticks and sat opposite a Chinese character who was using a knife and fork! Mac and talked 'new camera' and I set it up for him with three B&W modes and one colour - same as mine. I demonstrated how fast the camera is to use and captured this elegant character getting his teeth into the racing form in the local paper. A snatched shot which I reckon took less than a second.
