Hairstyles of our lives.
In the 1950s I had the fine hair of a baby and toddler and was blond.
In the 1960s I had a "short back and sides", the same as virtually every other male in the country. My hair turned from blond to light brown.
In the 1970s I had long hair, down and slightly past my shoulders at school. Then work, and I reined it back a bit. It turned mid-brown.
In the 1980s I moved to Birmingham and spent way too many nights in The Rumrunner in New Romantic mode with my hair like Phil Oakey of Human League, face long on one side, near shaved on the other. (Not greatly appreciated by the management of the insurance company I worked as an accountant for!). As the decade went on I had it permed! It remained mid-brown but the first hint of grey appeared.
In the 1990s it was a reasonable length and swept back with a centre parting. Even more grey appeared.
In the 2000s I started to have it cut very short or shaved, (about number 3). Grey was definitely 50%+
In the 2010s It remains shaved to number 3 but as the decade goes on I think the equation will be between length and it's existence. Grey or not there at all.
