Take two to Longniddry Station
Arrive in Edinburgh
Walk along the Royal Mile
Shelter from the rain
Walk to the castle
Eat lunch
Watch the one o'clock gun being fired (both girls jumping about a foot in the air!)
Visit the prison in the castle vaults
Marvel at the size of the swords in the Great Hall
Whisper in the National War Memorial
Gaze at The Stone of Destiny

Murron (suitably unimpressed) 'It's just a stone.'
Me 'Yes, but it's very symbolic.'
Murron 'Yes, but it's just a stone.'
Me 'It represents hundreds of years of scottish history.'
Catriona (also suitably unimpressed) 'I thought it would be covered in jewels.'
Me 'It's worth is in it's history - that's what I love about it. All the stories.....'
Catriona and Murron walk away Murron telling Catriona that we have loads of stones like that in our garden...
