Alchemist

I was at MIT today doing some research on John Van de Graaff's father Robert J. Van de Graaff and noticed this really fascinating artwork in front of the Student Centre. It is titled Alchemist and is a crouching human figure by contemporary Spanish sculptor/artist Jaume Plensa. The piece is on a one year loan as a gift from an alumnus (read the story here). I Googled the piece and there are some cool photos from the inside the sculpture. I didn't go in but should have. It has footlights to it must look brilliant at night. Google that, too. Off to Cape Cod for the weekend for some rest and relaxation. Haven't been there since 1995.

The plaque at the base reads:
