American Chestnut

The chestnut trees are in bloom.

They have a sweet odor that some people find offensive. Bruce hates it, but I don't mind it at all.

It's hard to figure out how something shaped like this can turn into a spiky nutshell with those little smooth round things inside. The nuts are great for stuffing the Thanksgiving turkey in November.

That crazy mockingbird dive bombed me again when I was taking this picture. I didn't go near her nest. Now she doesn't even want me on that side of the yard!
