Atlantic Puffin
On 3 July we went by boat out to the Machais Seal Island, which is a sanctuary for many Alcids, we we would treated to overwhelming views of puffins, razorbills, common murres and other birds. The island has a Canadian lighthouse and the sanctuary is governed by the Canadian Fish and Wildlife Service. There is limited access to the island and there are many rules that you must follow. All observations that are close-up are done in blinds.
The picture is of the Atlantic puffin flying with a fish that it's bringing back to the nest to feed young.
