Ness Island seasons & me

Why stop traffic after 319 years?

The Apprentice Boys of Derry now have an Inverness branch and this is the second year they've had a march in Inverness to celebrate the lifting of the siege of Derry in 1689.

These marches have often been triggers for sectarian violence in Northern Ireland. Surely this is a cultural tradition that can be allowed to slip quietly away after 319 years rather than be exported to little cities that don't really care one way or the other.

Hopefully the guys from Northern Ireland who came over won't be so keen to come again next year after they were welcomed by driving snow and a generous helping of public indifference. Short shirt sleeves probably not the best choice of garb for the conditions chaps.
