Madeira...Day 1

This is the first of the back blips.
Arrived in Funchal in hot humid sunshine to the most wonderful accommodation. The city is filled with huge modern hotels with what looked like big reception areas. Not my cup of tea at all. Ours however was behind a green door in a wall giving nothing away. More like a large guest house it was situated in beautiful gardens filled with all manner of tropical plants and flowers including this banana tree, with lizards skittering around by the dozen. It couldn't have been any better. Now the adventures begin. :-)
