Open-air opera

On a glorious summer evening I enjoyed with a hundred or so people in Edinburgh's Festival Square (and thousands in similar spaces across the country) a live broadcast from the Royal Opera House of Puccini's Madama Butterfly. Slightly odd decision to present this, not exactly the most american-friendly of operas, on the 4th of July, but it was well received by the audience, most of whom stayed to the end despite it getting a little chilly as the sun set.
