The Ropery

I went on a Leadership and Management day with work today, which involved a very long minibus journey down to Chatham (Monday morning traffic was not good), some interesting workshops and presentations, and as the event was held in the Historic Shipyards in Chatham, a quick tour of the Ropery at lunchtime. Unfortunately, we only had 15 minutes, so the guide got us to make our own piece of rope and then sent us to look at the rope-making works, which are housed in the longest brick built building in Europe - it's a quarter of a mile long. Mistakenly thinking that there was a way out at the other end, we walked that quarter of a mile, and then realised that we had to walk all the way back again to get out! Needless to say, we were late for the next presentation!

Bittersweet, you would've loved the photo opportunities here!
