Chasing Rainbows

Don't look down!!

Today was our 6th wedding anniversary and we had a little day trip to Edinburgh. We had originally planned to stay over and make a weekend of it but because i return to work on tuesday from a 9 month maternity leave i didn't want to be away from the little guy for too long.

The weather was cracking, we took a train up from Newcastle, arriving at Waverly Station at 9:30. We visited camera obscura, had a walk around, got some lunch, climbed Scott mountain monument and took a bus tour with time spare for grabbing a moccha and sit down just before catching a train home.

It's not the first time i've been to Edinburgh but it was the first time we noticed that you could climb Scott monument. Maybe it's something to do with having Blip goggles this time round. Well we couldn't miss the oppourtunity to get a blip of the City so we scaled the 287 very narrow single file steps with me in flipflops. I miraculously didn't trip once i'll have you know!! It was very claustraphobic and not only were we climbing up in the dark but other visitors were climbing down at the same time. Believe me i felt my personal space was well and truely invaded but it was all worth it when we got to each level and saw the fantastic view. The park was littered with tiny dots which were sunseekers relaxing the day away.

It was an awesome day out and the perfect way to spend our anniversary, although next time i think we'll take our baby cos we missed him loads.
