GET in HDR

GET stands for Gas Expansion Turbine.
The big orange thing is the generator, which can produce a maximum of 7 MegaWatts.
The system uses the high supplypressure of natural gas of about 54 Bar.
For use in the boiler of the unit (EC20) the pressure has to be between 3 and 6 bar.
So you can lower the pressure by reducing is in a reducing valve but you can also use the energy to let the gas expand in a small turbine.
The gas is directed into the turbine and expands in the bladed wheels of the turbine, letting them rotate and drive the generator.

The silvery "torpedo's" on the left are heaters, heated with low condensate from the main unit, to heat up the gas between the stages in the expansion turbine.
So one could call this real "green" energy....

The yellow pipe at top left is the main gassupply.

Ofcourse special attention has to be made to the seals of the system special oilseals prevent the gas from coming out.
