The city's back green
The Meadows was full of people enjoying the evening sunshine - I imagined all the flats in the nearby streets emptying of people to gather on the open grass. People sitting and chatting, eating and drinking. The more active ones playing with a ball or a frisbee. I was heading across to see an exhibition opening in a small cafe/restaurant. A was in the year above me at Stevenson, although we did travel to London together last year for the Fujifilm Student Awards. She had a mixture of images up - mostly her portraiture (women through the ages) and her pictures of children, but also some landscape work, printed onto aluminium. One stood out - of an old abandoned bus on one of the Outer Hebrides - reminded me of the film Into the Wild. Chatted with a few people there, before heading back across the Meadows. Passed the Czech Ps playing tennis - very appropriate given the successes for Czech tennis on Saturday - two first-time Wimbledon winners on the same day, both from the same small town (smaller than Peebles). Amazing!
