Behind Every Closed Door

My sister, nephew, girlfriend and I all went on a tour around Beaumont, Tx, seeing the sights. We went to two historic homes, one built in 1845, and the other built in 1906.

This is a doorknob from the Chambers House, the younger of the two. Mr. Chambers was quite the miserly fellow, and only put the pretty hardware in places that guests were likely to see. On the backs of the doors, old brass handles were used. This, of course, was one of the nicer ones.
