A really wild day

20 months 12days

What a day! We've both loved it!! We took a quick pit stop at the Sunday Market, got some journey nibbles and a couple of little Katiebits and then we went to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. It was GREAT.

The first thing we saw was the meerkat feeding time. This is the first time Katie's seen them where she's called them meerkats not cats! I wasnt much impressed by the mongoose who seemed rather scary. We then walked past the farm animals and she ran to every donkey and llama (yes, in the farm section!) from the fence, waving. We walked through the woodland trail and she had a fabulous time playing on a little poohsticks bridge.

From there, we went into the lemur enclosure. We had lemurs jumping in the pushchair, and I was literally 6 inches from one as I was taking photos. She loved the babies and wanted to go right up to play. We walked through there and headed for the tiger enclosure. That was just fabulous. She loved the tigers. Really was fascinated by them. I was very sad for them prowling along back and forth in their (large and very impressive) enclosures. They were incredible. We had lunch just feet away from the female. We both could have spent a long time watching them.

We walked back through and saw the camels, then the prairie dogs, alpacas, wilderbeast and more. She absolutely loved the wallaby enclosure, and walked right up to a family of them. There was the joey climbing out of Mummy's pouch and someone said "look a joey", which Katie repeated and has been repeating since, about all the wallabies. She wanted to stay for ages with them. It was only the promise of lions that moved her on.

She spent a lot of the day wanting to pick up pebbles and dirt- she was using them as food as she wanted to give them to all the animals. Including the lions. She picked a handful up and said "lions tea". We walked past the zebra, ostriches and antelope to get to the lion area. She promptly fell asleep!

Whilst she slept we saw flamingos, goats and sheep and a few other things. After her nap, she had a really good play in the playground, she was more confident than normal about letting other children help her, play with her and such. She was lovely to watch. We then played in the indoor soft play and got a drink before we came home. She's filthy, she's stained her clothes, but so what! Its been a fabulous day!!
