A cottage revealed
For 30 years there has been a forest here. Then the road by was improved and the trees harvested. Then, for many of us who had moved to Skye during those years, this cottage was revealed. Prior to the harvest we had never even seen it.
I find it interesting that one of the first flowering plants to re-colonise the forest area is the Foxglove. Digitalis Purpurea. This plant, tall and pretty, also guards a secret that many are unaware of. The seed and leaves contain Digitalin which is or was used as an heart stimulant. I suspect the drug is now synthesised.
Well, here we are able to see the remainms of the cottage. It would have been a wonderful location to live in. Eventually though the roots of the old trees will be lifted and new forest trees planted. Within another ten years the cottage may well be hidden again.
