New Old Technology
At St Pauls Church tonight the support group were Jowe Head and The Demi-Monde. And one of their number is Kathryn, or possibly Catherine, who plays a number of unusual instruments. A home made synthesiser, a toy piano, a harmonium, and last but not in the least least, a theramin!
Supposedly the first all electrical musical instrument. I've seen it played, I've read a decription of how it works. I don't understand it but I fancy a go, and they don't cost that much. It does however look like magic, just plucking music out of the air.
This is the third theramin inside a year at these gigs. It's obviously making a comeback.
The headline band were Circulus. They didn't have a theramin. Perhaps they'd have been netter if they did.
