Umbrella parade.
This weekend is Jazz festival in Lyme and this morning was the jazz umbrella parade. I try to get Erin and Jack to do everything that goes on in the town. I would never force them but luckily they do enjoy it so we do them all. This one involved me decorating their umbrellas and then we all followed the jazz band down the high street and along the parade. Erins I did with flowers and butterflies hanging off it and butterflies stuck on it with 2 pink birds on the top. Jacks was buckets, spades and seagulls hanging off it and sea fish stuck to it with a windmill stuck to the top. Jack decided that he didn't want to carry his by the time it started so I carried it above him as he walked down with his hands on his hips. They both did so well as it was a fair walk and very hot. They were the youngest in it and the other people in the parade loved having them along. Erin made them all laugh when at one point she had asked me to have her umbrella for the rest of the walk. I took it but then the town crier announced that the children who had carried umbrellas in the parade would get an ice-cream at the end. She spun round so quickly and grabbed it back off me that everyone burst out laughing at her. "I'll get my ice-cream, now, the man did say" she announced to them all.
At the end they had childrens 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners which I didn't know they did. We were over the moon though as Jacks umbrella got 1st, and Erins 3rd, I say we, I was over the moon with that and they were over the moon with the huge ice-creams they got at the end.
