Revenue raiser ?

A bit of an emergency Blip as I was rushing from work to meet up with some work colleagues - a great laugh putting the world to rights.

What you see above is the new road markings that appeared today.
The road at the bottom of the shot was resurfaced about a month ago and since then there as been no markings - no accidents have happened and no parking tickets have been issued. Today however the double yellow have been extended and brand new, never before see junction markings are in place.

(for the record I am standing in a dead-end taking the shot up a dead-end - you can only go one way to the right)

Also a comment from my Bro-in-law who is equally as astounded at the creation of the junction; he can explain so much better why I might have though this a worthy emergency blip..

just had a quick look at your blip and the road markings are completely superfluous - given that it's only accessible by one lane and most of the vehicles will be reversing to a "Give Way" marking. The dotted white (all one of it) is just ridiculous given that no traffic will be coming from the right at the end of that road - utterly stupid waste of paint, other than to get someone on the new double yellows, which at least does give you a bit of space to manoeuvre.
