Jus' Nestin'

After the fun and games yesterday, Mrs Swan is happily sitting on her nest keeping the eggs warm. I say happily - she is a little wary of me hovering around, but its all quiet now.

Apparently she will be doing this for another 30 days until the eggs hatch in early May. My book also tells me that they stay with their young until they are able to fly away with a mate to start a new colony, and if the youngsters hang about for too long, the father will chase them off, and in some instances even kill them.
A bit harsh, I thought.
