Stalking the wild mushroom

I'm pretty happy.

This is almost three pounds or more of wild black morel mushrooms from Grapevine Point - a truly wild delicacy. In a fancy market back East these might sell for upwards of $50 a pound. And for many connoisseurs they are completely worth it.

They have been popping up everywhere up here in the Lakes this spring and now the spirit is upon me. My eyes are on and everywhere I go I see wild mushrooms. I collected all of these in just an hour walking the woods before dinner. My hands so full I had to stop, carrying my booty home in my shirt!

Since Katie can't be here this spring I'm drying and smoking them all for a wild foods gift bag I'm foraging for all this summer for her wedding in September She's gonna love it, but SHhhh!
