The First Dance
Had the honour of attending the reception of my friend Ian's marriage to his beautiful wife Gemma today.
I remember the first dance from my own marriage. What a horrible nerve-wracking affair it is! It's supposed to be 'your day' but you have to parade about in front of your friends and family to some slow number (mine was the 12inch version of 'Everything I do I do for you' by Bryan Adams, no less!) whilst arse-holes like me take photos!
I've seen two approaches to the First Dance. There's the traditional slow shuffle; which remains somewhat dignified. And then there's the 'we've trained for this together and are now going to wow you with our dancing skills' approach, which whilst potentially impressive does mean you're surrounded by people that are secretly thinking ' bloody show-offs'
Today the bride and groom went with the former - for which this one reveller is thankful.
After that came the traditional mix of Grease, Jive Bunny, and of course the ladies' favourite -'Oops upside your head'.
In any event, a good time was had by all.
Congratulations to you both!!
