Home Again...
I got up at 6am and got all my stuff organised and everything. Said goodbye to my room and the house (weird feeling) then we left. Cecilia and Jan drove me to Central Station to say goodbye. Driving along by the water at Kungsholmen made me feel sad because the view was so beautiful. It was cruel of Stockholm to be so beautiful on my last day, it could have at least rained or something to make it look a bit more dull...
Anyway, I said goodbye to Cecilia and Jan at the station and got on the train to the airport. I didn't cry when I was saying goodbye to them, but when I got on the train I did. Then got to the airport and was checked in, through security and waiting in the departure lounge all within 15 minutes. Then the plane was delayed for half an hour so I was waiting there for over an hour listening to depressing music.
When we finally boarded I started to tear up again, and by the time we were about to take off I was in floods of tears. I think I made the boy beside me kind of uncomfortable. As my friend later pointed out, I must have looked like I had issues. The flight was beautiful because Stockholm had clear skies so you could see everything.
As we arrived the captain said that the current weather in Edinburgh was "overcast with occasional showers" which made me laugh... making me look even more crazy to the people sitting beside me. When we came into land it was really cool because we flew right over the Forth and you could see the whole of Edinburgh and the Forth bridges. At that point I was beginning to feel excited about being home I guess. I had various songs in my head.
But when I got into the airport and I heard my first Scottish accent (there were no other Scottish people on the flight!) and saw that everything was written in English, it felt super weird. Anyway, my mum came to pick me up (my dad was at work and my brother couldn't fit in the car because I had so much stuff) and we came home and I started to unpack.
I decided to have a clear out, so my room looked like a bomb had hit it and you could barely see the floor... But I've now cut the amount of clothes I own in half, and the charity shops of Edinburgh are soon going to be hit with a wave of my old clothes. Then my dad came home and we all had haggis (YUM) for dinner. Then I got ready to go out with all my friends.
As I was drying my hair, Katherine and Rosie arrived but I didn't hear them, so they burst into my room and gave me the fright of my life. It was so great to see them and actually touch them again! (Not just seeing their faces on a stupid computer screen). They brought me a bottle of Kopparberg because it's Swedish, then we went to Hannah's house! Then after seeing everyone there, we all headed out to Cab Vol. It was pretty deserted at first, so we started walking to Octo... and on the way there, we met two Swedish girls! It was so weird! But I was super happy to see them. They were from Malmö and were inter-railing, so I spoke my amazing (terrible) drunken Swenglish to them. They seemed to understand though.
Anyway, we got half way to Octo and for some reason turned around and went back to Cab Vol instead. But by that time there were more people and it was good. So yeah... I had a fun first day back in The Burgh.
And sorry for the essay again!
And this is my brother, he's wearing my glasses that I got with Ramona and Minttu in Stockholm. He spent a good half an hour trying to convince me to give them to him.
