Malaysia travels day 3 - market gardens

The Cameron Highlands, having a more temperate climate cool (never much above the low 20's and high rainfall) are the market garden of Malaysia - fruit, flowers (roses and cactus), vegetables. Apart from tea the big thing is strawberry growing and they are lovely, very sweet but hardly a novelty when you come form Scotland. They are mostly grown hydroponically and there is even have PYO. Cabbages are also big! The produce form here is sent all over Malaysia and beyond.

Although there are a lot of jungle trails through the rain forest and the mountains most visitors stay in ugly concrete high rise hotels spread out across the area and visit the, often run down, tourist attractions. Nevertheless it remains a popular destination for Malaysians and Singaporeans.
