Tender Touch

The Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis, belonging to the family Polychrotidae) is one of the most adaptive species on earth. Their ability to blend in to avoid detection by changing their skin tones as well as a detachable tail to escape capture makes them very unique.

As these two approached each other to assure the world of another generation, the female descended off the shady part of the building and was almost black while the male ascended from the foliage below and was a brilliant green. Interestingly, on the screen, midway between their original starting points, she changed to green during their embrace.

Interesting Note : Anoles have recently become the first reptile to have its complete genome sequenced!
