Common Blue

A male common blue butterfly (Polyommatus icarus) on its caterpillar's foodplant - bird's-foot trefoil.

Yesterday, I said if it was fine, I'd go back today. It was. I did.
I spent two and a half hours trying to photograph a common blue but couldn't get close enough to use a macro. Instead, I managed about half a dozen acceptable images using a telephoto lens at its closest focal distance.

During that time I saw, and photographed, more 6-spot burnet moths, some ringlet butterflies and a large white flew past which I ignored.

Maybe more tomorrow? Time will tell.
