Journey Through Time

Meet Sean Keller - Track and Field Champion

No, he isn't a rose! (You have to see previous blip to understand that, I guess...) But he is a blossoming young athlete who lives 5 doors down from us. He was just a little kid when we first moved to this neighborhood and now he is going to be a senior at Heritage High School here in Vancouver, WA. This is from an on-line article by The Oregonian. He was named Athlete of the Year by The Columbian, the newspaper in Vancouver.

Sean Keller tried throwing a javelin as a Heritage freshman because a friend talked him into joining him on the Timberwolves' track team.

Two years later, there's no high school student in the country who's better with a javelin in his or her hand than Keller. And before he's finished at Heritage, Keller may be the best the high schools have seen in javelin.

Keller recently broke the state record in javelin, throwing it 232 feet, 1 inch. With this season's regional and state meets and his senior year remaining, Keller's next move is to break the national high school record of 244 feet, 2 inches,

Be sure you read that right! The best in the country, not county. In the whole of the United States of America!!

Sean recently participated in the Junior Track and Field competition in Eugene, Oregon and finished second. He will travel, in July, to Florida for an International competition.

Go Sean!! Awesome accomplishment.
